Golf reveals a lot about a man's character. I had the privilege of golfing weekly for several years with Dean Woody in Quail Creek Golf League. I can say with confidence, "he was a good man, who truly loved and followed Jesus." I distinctly remember when hitting my approach shot onto the green on hole #8, Dean would say, "one club less than you think." And he was right. To this day, EVERY TIME I go to hit my approach shot on hole #8, I still hear Dean whispering in my ear saying, "one club less than you think."

Dean, you will be missed by SO many. I truly considered you one of my very best friends and LOVE to tell stories of you teaching me to Golf. There is no question why your hair was grey.
Watching you play golf and sing and play guitar we all knew you were truly in your happy place. I hope you are watching down on all of us. I hope Dukey, Jim (Dad), Bonnie, Roger, Jim, Pauletta, Doris & Nan were all there to greet you. Probably all sitting around a table smoking and laughing. I also hope God doesn't make you & Pauletta drive around in those awful Geo Metro's! HA! I love you my friend. Rest In Peace and please save a spot at that table for me.

Gil, I was going to call you but I do not have your number, Kirk. I had talked to Dean a couple weeks or so before he passed. Dean was in good spirits but was planning to move back to Iowa in the Spring and looking for a place to live around West Branch or Iowa City. He will be missed but his trials and tribulations with his health are over.

I am so sorry for your and our great loss! Dean was everyone's friend. I never heard him speak ill of anyone! He would happily get out his guitar and entertain all who would gather, taking all requests. He was very talented and a friend to all!
