Iowa City, Iowa Floyd V. Bothell, 90, died suddenly Tuesday March 13, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Private family graveside services will be held Saturday at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Memorials may be made to First Church United or Camp Courageous. Floyd was born January 7, 1922 near West Liberty the son of Vernon and Julia Larew Bothell. He attended Scott Township Country School until 7th grade, before graduating from West Liberty High School in 1940. On January 25, 1942 he was united in marriage to Barbara Peters in West Liberty they recently celebrated 70 years together. Floyd farmed his entire life, beginning at a very early age to help on the family farm and continued the operation of the farm following the death of his father. He was a member of the First Church United and he served as an Elder in the former Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club, West Liberty Country Club and served on the West Liberty School board for 12 years. Survivors include his wife Barb of Iowa City. Four children: Susan Anderson of North Liberty, John (Shirley) Bothell of West Liberty, Linda (Bob) Foor of Washington and Lori Lux of Iowa City. 8 Grandchildren: Brian, Brad, Brianne, Anthony, Jonathan, Joe, Jon and Dan. 10 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Denny, brother Louis and a sister Katherine Pettit.
