John E. McCrory, 53, died Wednesday October 1, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday October 4, 2008 at the Iowa City Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Iowa City Church of Christ. Burial will be held in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center, Iowa. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
John Edward McCrory was born August 31, 1955 in Mystic, Iowa the son of Richard and Joyce Clark McCrory. At a young age John went to live with and was raised by his uncle and aunt Gene and Evelyn McCrory. He was a graduate of Moravia High School in 1973 and later the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard.
On April 26, 1975 he was united in marriage to Malinda Conz in Indianola. The couple had resided in Frytown for many years, later moving to Iowa City and most recently West Liberty.
He was employed with the University of Iowa Hospitals and was Pastor for the Frytown Church of Christ and Atalissa Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Malinda of West Liberty. Two daughters: Renee (Randall) Wanamaker of Tampa, Florida and Krista (Rod) Dobbs and their daughter Addison of Beebe, Arkansas. One sister: Joy (Richard) Davison of Owatonna, Minnesota. One brother: Dan (Roz) McCrory of Houston, Texas. His adoptive parents Gene and Evelyn McCrory as well as their children Gerry McCrory of Ottumwa and Roger (Shanda) McCrory of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three half brothers: Ross, David and Paul and a half sister: Sandy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul.
