Obituary of Lyn Beth Kane

Lyn Beth Kane, 76, of West Branch, Iowa, passed away  Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, with private family interment at the West Branch Cemetery.

Lyn was born on September 25, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Martin and Barbara (Stein) Kessler. She attended the Cheltenham school system until the 11th grade, later graduating from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky. Lyn continued her education by earning a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa.

On June 14, 1970, Lyn married her beloved husband, Neal Kane. Lyn dedicated her professional life to social work, working at the University of Iowa, DHS Cedar County, IOWA COMPASS, and Linn County MHDD, until her retirement.

Lyn was a devoted member of the Friends Church in West Branch, where she actively participated and found great joy in her faith and community.

She is survived by her son, Justin Kane, and his wife Katlyn of West Branch, as well as her treasured grandson, Harper Neal Kane. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Neal.
