West Liberty, Iowa Frances L. Daufeldt, 94, died Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday at the church with a wake service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, West Liberty Fire and Rescue or Atalissa Fire and Rescue. Frances was born on January 7, 1920 at her family home in Muscatine County, the daughter of Elmer and Marie Limacher Jewett. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Clarence Daufeldt on June 30, 1943 in Muscatine. Together they farmed in the Atalissa area. Frances was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty and was involved in many activities at the church including the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved participating in the Muscatine County Fair each summer and served as a 4-H leader for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting as well as spending time with her family. She is survived by her six children: Gary Daufeldt of West Liberty, Donald (Pat) Daufeldt of West Liberty, Gloria (Larry) Dlouhy of Bettendorf, James (Martha) Daufeldt of Greensboro, N.C., Marlin Daufeldt of Atalissa, and Cindy (Dub) Massey of Nichols, IA. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and her brothers: Earl Jewett and Leroy Jewett.
