West Branch, Iowa Dennis L. Lovell, 61, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday June 23, 2014 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Denny was born March 28, 1953 in Iowa City, the son of Kenneth and Rita Williams Lovell. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Vicki Ervin in 1974, they later divorced. He was employed as a Cedar County Secondary Roads Superintendent. Denny loved his job and had to retire after 36 years due to illness. Denny enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, creating fine stained glass artwork, driving around anywhere and everywhere, garage sales, sitting in his garage with friends and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Jaime Lovell Smith (Jake) , and grandchildren: Tori and Hunter Smith of Hills, Iowa, daughter Amy Lovell (Brent Parizek) and grandson Brady Parizek of Lone Tree, Iowa, brother Bruce Lovell of Gunbarrel City, Texas and sister Jeanette Sletten (Eric) of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Kevin Lovell. The family would like to thank Iowa City Hospice, Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center, friends for always checking on him and helping him, everyone that sent cards and the Cedar County Secondary Road Department.
