Larry shopped at both Nagle Lumber and City Electric’s lighting showroom when I work at both places. He was so kind and always was laughing. I was sad to see He passed. My sincere condolences.

Larry was a man who took chances. When he was director of Medical Photography at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, he took a chance hiring many employees with non-photographic backgrounds. My studies were in biology and chemistry. I began developing 5x7 black and white prints and finally became a medical photographer - thanks to Larry. Many others had a similar journey. It was usual to work all night creating, developing, and mounting 2x2 photographic slides for teaching. It made no difference that Larry was the director, he shared all the work. He took call a week at a time like the rest of us - with a pager turned on, all night and weekends, waiting to be summoned to the hospital for photos to document patient cases. He took a chance starting an apartment rental business - dealing with debts and hours of repair work. He took a chance when he was lonely - attending dances where he met Braun. - take chances. Thanks, Larry.

My condolences as you mourn Larry's death. It was a pleasure to get to know him this past year or so as he worshiped at Christ the king.

Larry was used to photographing kidneys and hearts and tissue. One day, I walked into his office and he agreed that he and his crew would take pictures of my pottery and beadwork. The pictures were great and I made a new friend. Larry was kind and talented and generous. I am glad to have known him. May you celebrate his life well!
