Obituary of Abraham Aleman Luna

Abraham Aleman Luna, 66, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Visitation will be held Friday September 17, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Funeral mass will be held Friday, 12 noon at the Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Abraham’s family. 

Abraham was born February 25, 1955 in Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Juan Aleman Padron and Isidra Luna Rodriguez. He was united in marriage to Andrea Flores de Aleman. When arrived in the United States worked in the fields in California for several years before moving to Iowa in 1995 where he worked at Tyson in Columbus Junction. He later was employed with West Liberty Foods until his death.

He loved gardening and animals. He would spend all of his free time caring for his plants (flowering plants, vegetables and fruit trees) and animals.   

He is survived by his wife: Andrea Flores de Aleman; West Liberty, five children: Miguel (Maria) Aleman of West Liberty, Gustavo (Araceli) Aleman of West Liberty, Violeta M. Aleman of Des Moines, Alvaro Aleman, West Liberty and Esmeralda Aleman of Lone Tree.  Nine Grandchildren: Azeneth Aleman, Casandra Aleman, Andrea Aleman, Lazaro Aleman, Lizbeth Aleman, Aribeth Aleman, and Ariany Aleman all from West Liberty, Alexis D. Romero and Alexander C. Romero from Des Moines, Iowa.  4 brothers, 1 sister and several nephews and nieces also survive. He was preceded in death by a son Lazaro Aleman Flores, Mother Isidra Luna Rodriguez, Father Juan Aleman Padron, and brother Valentin Aleman Luna.
