Harold “Buzz” W. Dettwiler Jr., age 64 of West Liberty, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 in Marion, IA. The son of Harold W. and Mary Frances (Melton) Dettwiler, he was born December 11, 1955 in Iowa City, IA. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1975. He married JoEtta Gipple on December 18, 1982. Buzz was in the construction field most of his life. While in Texas, he constructed McDonalds in Houston and would travel to Mexico on mission trips to build churches and homes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed Sunday football games, western movies, and spending time with his family. Buzz is survived by a son, Cody Dettwiler of Kingman, AZ and a daughter Hannah Dettwiler of Waterloo, IA; his mother, Mary Frances Dettwiler of Iowa City, IA; a brother, John (Renee) Dettwiler of Conroe, TX; two sisters, Susan Meyer of Holden, MO and Kathy (Brian) Courtois of North Liberty, IA and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold W. Dettwiler Sr., his wife JoEtta “Jody” Dettwiler and his daughter Jacklyn Dettwiler. Private family visitation on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 10 A.M. with services following at 11 A.M. at the Henderson Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, IA. The funeral will be live streamed on the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home Facebook page on Monday, 11 A.M. Interment will follow at the Columbus City, Iowa Cemetery.
