West Branch, Iowa Lawrence A. Maske, 65, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home. Private family funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, those wishing to share in the funeral may watch livestream on Joan Dallege Maske's Facebook page. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. With the current State of Iowa restrictions on social and community gatherings in effect the funeral home will assist with family and friends entering the funeral home to comply with current regulations on social distancing and allowable 50% occupancy during the visitation. Lawrence Alan Maske was born to William and Rosemary (Langenberg) Maske on June 17, 1954. He graduated West Branch High school in 1972 and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Dallege, on September 20, 1975. His name was written in the Lamb’s Book of Life in 1989 when he accepted the gift of Jesus Christ as his savior which he later celebrated by following his Lord in the waters of baptism. He left quietly for his heavenly home from ‘his chair’ listening to the laughter of ‘his people’ (wife Joan daughters Elizabeth (Brian) Hagedorn, Abigail (Alex) Hayes, Hannah (Justin) Bonzato, and granddaughter Emsley Hagedorn). He spent 42 years driving a dump truck, and was never in a vehicle accident. He worked for his dad and eventually owned his own truck for several years. He was very fond of watching auto racing, especially at the local dirt tracks with his girls. His all-time favorite driver was his son-in-law Alex. His wife and daughters were everything to him. His last weekend was spent happily expressing his love for each of his girls, sons-in-law, and grandbaby who he adored. His faith and his courage in the face of death was a beautiful thing that he shared with his family during his last days. Lawrence was surprisingly diagnosed with lymphoma in early May. After a demanding and emotionally painful stay in the hospital, his desire to go home to Jesus was certain. The Lord provided alleviation from his pain through the prayers of his church body and the care of Hospice. His family is confident he is now in his eternal home, where he joins many beloved saints including Emily, Micah, Isaac and Isaiah, his preborn children, his preborn grandchild, his dad, his parents-in-law, his nephew, a special sister-in-law, a beloved uncle who passed on the same day one year ago, and many other family and friends. He often excitedly spoke of re-uniting with his dad. Lawrence is also survived by his mother Rosemary, three siblings: Gary (Julie) Maske, Marian (Kerry) Griebenow, Diane (Mohamed) Hamdan, and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
