West Liberty, Iowa Tomas Gaucin Chavarria, 69, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 5 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 107 West 6th St. West Liberty. Due to the current State of Iowa restrictions on social gatherings the funeral home will assist with family and friends entering the church to comply with current regulations. Inurnment will be held in Mexico at a later date. A memorial fund has been established, memorial donations will be used to help with funeral expenses. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Tomas’s family. Tomas was born May 28, 1950 in Emiliano Zapata Dgo Mexico the son of Fernando and Nolberta (Chavarria) Gaucin Zalvala. He was united in marriage to Juana Marin de Gaucin. Tomas was employed with West Liberty Foods. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty and loved watching movies, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Juana, daughters: Maribel Gaucin and Mariela Gaucin. Grandchildren: Leticia Ibarra Gaucin, Daniel Garcia Gaucin, Jose Antonio Ibarra Gaucin, Darling Ibarra Gaucin, Kenia Guadalupe Ibarra Gaucin all of West Liberty. Brothers: Enrique Gaucin Chavarria of Plainview, Tx. Juan Gaucin Chavarria of Muscatine, Fernando Gaucin Chavarria of Coahuila, Mexico, Jose Manuel Gaucin Chavarria of Lubbock, TX. Sisters: Ingracia Gaucin Chavarria of Durango, Mexico, Rosario Gaucin de Machado of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Silvino Caucin Chavarria, Samuel Marquez Gaucin, brother in law: Victor Machado, aunt Margarita Montelongo, uncles: Manuel Montelongo, Julian Chavarria, and Jesus Chavarria.
