West Branch, Iowa Audrey Fern Foster Rex, 85, of West Branch passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch where she was loved and cared for by the amazing staff. Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in West Branch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to Crestview Specialty Care Center in Audrey’s memory. Audrey was born November 18, 1934 in West Branch, Iowa, the daughter of LaMar and Mary (Thomason) Foster. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1952. She then attended Drake University for one year, where she excelled in music. On October 20, 1957 she was united in marriage to Richard Rex in West Branch. Audrey worked as a home daycare provider, co-owned Craft’s Galore in Iowa City, and worked at the West Branch School daycare, but a majority of her working years were spent at Crestview Care Center. From 1973 until 1984 she was the Activities Director, and from 1992 - 2009 she worked in dietary and as an aide. She loved the patients and the staff, and they loved her. Audrey loved to play the piano and organ for the residents and staff. Audrey and Dick enjoyed many years traveling to Dick’s parent's resort, White Hill Haven, in Bemidji, Minnesota. More recently, Audrey and Dick enjoyed going to their trailer at Paradise Valley in northeast Iowa. They enjoyed following Iowa Women’s Basketball and were season ticket holders for 20 years. Following her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their activities was another favorite pastime of Audrey’s. Audrey was a member of the West Branch United Methodist Church and officer/member of Eastern Star. Audrey is survived by her four children: Tim (Madonna) Rex of West Branch, Tammy Rex McGrew of Rockford, Illinois, Terry (Kris) Rex of Oelwein, and Tracy (Chuck) Wolfe of North Liberty, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jay Turnbull of Des Moines, and one sister-in-law, Jan (Ken) Mather of West Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, LaMar Jr. and Derrold Foster, one sister, Doris Hagen, a granddaughter, Shelby, and her husband, Richard, who passed away in 2016.
