Harvey A. Peden, 56, died Monday May 11, 2009 while planting corn on one of the family farms North of Atalissa.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday May 15, 2009 at the West Branch United Methodist Church with Rev. Scot Patrick officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers
memorials may be made to the Harvey Peden memorial fund.
Harvey was born April 21, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa the son of George and Marian Meier Peden. He was a graduate of West Branch High School in 1971 and attended the Farm Operation Program at Iowa State University. On August 7, 1976 he was united in marriage to the former Joetta Lanfier in West Branch.
He farmed East of Springdale his entire life.
He was a former member of the Jaycees, past FFA president, had received the Iowa FFA farmer degree, member of the I-Club, Farm Bureau and was a University of Iowa Foundation supporter. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and had grown and sold sweet corn in the area for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife Joetta Peden of Atalissa. Mother: Marian Peden of Atalissa. Three daughters: Shanelle Peden of West Branch, Alicia Peden of Arlington, Virginia and Haley Peden of Ames. Brother: David (Kathy) Peden of West Branch. Two sisters: Marcia Kennedy of Houston, Texas and Stacie (Tony) Pridotkas of Fairfax, Virginia. Nieces and nephews: Scott (Stacy) Peden and Shane (Pam) Peden, George Pridotkas and Leila Pridotkas as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister Susan.
