Wesley James Smith, 60 of Tipton, IA passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at his home.
He was born to George C. Smith Jr and Charlotte (Midkiff) Smith on September 12, 1958 in Muscatine, IA.
Wesley graduated from West Liberty High School in 1976. He married Terri Lee Ellison on September 9, 1997. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2016.
He most recently worked at Norfolk Iron in Durant and worked over 30 years at Sheller Globe (now IAC) in Iowa City.
Wes was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He could fix, make or build just about anything and was truly a gifted craftsman. He was a good friend and neighbor and will be missed by many.
At Wes' request there will be no public services. A private family burial will take place in the Nichols Cemetery at a later date.
He is survived by his stepsons: Adam Bodkin of Maquoketa and Danny Bodkin of Monticello, his grandchildren: Heath, Isaiah and Nevea Bodkin, his mother Charlotte Smith of West Liberty, his sisters: Melodi (Mark) Kopf and Susan (Randy Meade) Smith both of West Liberty, his brother Bryan Smith of Nichols, his father-in-law Richard Ellison of Monticello, his brother-in-law Tony (Tammy) Ellison of Monticello, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his very special friends: Mike Smith of Iowa City and Julie and Tony Metzger of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Terri, his father, his mother-in-law Susie "Sunshine" Ellison, his brother-in-law Jody and his grandparents.
Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice in his memory.
