Edward Charles Kleinmeyer (80) passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2019 at McCreedy Home in Washington, IA.
Born in Salisbury, MO on September 2, 1938, he was the son of Edward Gustave Kleinmeyer and Naomi Ioan Penrod (Hartwig). On June 25th, 1962 he married Kathleen Lucille Benson in Oskaloosa, IA and later divorced Kathleen in 1981.
He held many jobs in his lifetime including milkman, farm caretaker for the Johnson County Care Facility, over the road truck driver for Stutsman’s Inc., Prime Inc., DART and later owned and operated his own semi truck.
He was a Baptist man who enjoyed fishing, gardening, riding motorcycles, joking with others and fixing things. He will be remembered for his ability to fix anything, his green thumb and his love for making others laugh.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Lisa Lynn Peiffer of Iowa City, IA, daughter, Michelle Raeleen Williams (Doran) of Riverside, IA, son, William Joseph Kleinmeyer (KimberLee) of West Branch, IA, son Terry Lee Benson (Kirsten) of Sigourney, IA and daughter, Cathy Jo Redlinger (Ryan) of Riverside, IA; grandchildren Cheree, Brianna, Brandon, Kaitelynn, Jacob, Kaden, Levi, Bryan, Lily and Chloe; five great-grandchildren, sisters Jean (Jim) Garringer, Judy (Eldon) Penrod, Gayle (Jim) Fanning and Mary (Keith) Kleinmeyer-Polhamus, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Bob and former wife, Kathleen.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 13th at 12:30 pm at the Yankee Point Cemetery in Parnell,IA. Luncheon will immediately follow services at Jean and Jim Garringer’s home in Williamsburg, IA.
