West Liberty, Iowa
Randall (Randy) Eugene Cain was born May 14, 1954 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Edward (Gene) Eugene and Jane Lee (Eichenour) Cain. He loved the farm of his youth and remained there with his mom after Gene and Jane divorced. Randy gained an additional mom when Gene re-married to Phyllis. Randy ended his long and stoic battle on his terms - in the comfort of his own home with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, August 12, 2018.
Randy will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Please join them for a Celebration of Life held at the West Liberty Community Center on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2 P.M. with a visitation for family and friends at from 1 until service time at 2 P.M. Randy attended Tipton schools and obtained his GED in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Harley trips. Randy met Dixie Babcock on a Friday evening in May of 1978; they were married that same July and celebrated 40 years of marriage in 2018. Randy and Dixie became proud and dedicated parents in 1985 when Rachel was born. Randy was notorious among Rachel’s friends as a Harley-riding bearded man who slightly resembled Santa Claus.
Randy was employed in construction for many years and was never prouder than when he was providing for his family. He worked for W. Hodgeman and Son (Fairmont, MN), Barker and Co. (Iowa City, IA), L.L. Pelling (Iowa City, IA) and later Walnut Grove Feeds in West Liberty for 17 years. Later in life, Randy worked part time for Liquid Grow and Danner Farms where his coworkers became like family to him.
In October of 2016, Randy became a grandpa to Oliver and the two became the best of friends. The twinkle in Randy’s eye was confirmation that only the best dads are promoted to grandpas.
