Nicki had an infectious smile & heart of gold. Her dedication to her family & especially her kids was inspirational! She was a natural nurturer~My favorite memories are her running around the counter at Herb's to hug me the second I walked in the door & she would meticulously pack our harvest lunches so they'd make it to the field...complete w/ salt & pepper shakers. Lucky to have known you lady!

I met Nicki in 1983/84 when I was an AFS student for a year in West Branch. We kept in touch with Facebook and saw her the last Time in september of 2016. I was totally devastated last monday when i found out she was gone for ever. I did cry on my own thinking of her. I’m not religious but i did talk to her. I will visit her next Time I come to West Branch and will keep her in my heart for ever.

My sincere sympathy goes out to Larry and his family. I've watch his kids and grandkids grow up for 49 years. I can't think of anything worse than losing one of children. Nicki put up a courageous fight. and will be missed by so many! My sympathies also go out to Barb (Bubba) Burkhart who has been Nicki's rock for the last 5 years! Such a special woman!

Had a lot of fun with Nicki and her brother and sister when they were younger. Took them to Adventure Land where we got our picture taken dressed up in the old western clothing. We did a lot of bike riding also. I remember Nicki and I going out to the farm as she wanted to ride the mo-ped they had. I let her drive my car once we got on the gravel road. She hit a little pot hole and we ended up in the ditch!! I drove it out but we had a lot of grass we had to pull out from under the car. We talked about Casey how much she liked him, I said follow your heart, which she did and they got married and had 2 children together to add along with Eric her first born. Nicki you got your wings and it is time for you to soar. RIP dear sweet Nicki I will truly miss you.

Sending our condolences to you all. We met Nicki at Hoover Elementary when Mitchell and Kylie were there. Such a great mom, always around, and had an amazing smile and infectious laugh. My heart breaks for this family. Nicki was one of the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. After my dad passed in 2009, she gave me a video of my father pulling one of their calves which meant so much to me because my fondest memories of my dad were with our cows. I would like to think they are both up there now and Harvey is making her laugh... gone way too soon. May your memories bring you comfort. She was a special person who’s spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren.
