Manuel Montelongo, 85, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral mass will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be the Oak Ridge Cemetery,  West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

Manuel was born January 8, 1933 in Mexico the son of Angel and Fermina (Gaucin) Montelongo. He was united in marriage to Maria Del  Refugio de la Trinidad Montelongo. He lived in Mexico prior to moving to West Liberty in 1977 and was employed with Louis Rich Foods and Hobbs Feathers.

He is survived by his wife Maria, seven children: Angel Montelongo of West Liberty, Francisca Montelongo of Mexico, Manuel Montelongo of West Liberty, Jose Montelongo of West Liberty, Margarita Montelongo of West Liberty, Cesar Montelongo of West Liberty and Liliana Montelongo of West Liberty. Grandchildren: Angel Jr, Lorenzo, Ashley, Israel, Eric, Lizbeth, Bernardo, Dulce, Cristina, Rosa, Brando, Jessica, Yesenia, Tony, Juan Gonzalo, Araceli, Oscar, Valeria, Fernanda and Daniella, many great grandchildren also survive.
