Jerry Dale Lawrence, 73, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at The Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.

A memorial visitation will be held 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch where a memorial service with military honors will follow at 4 P.M. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials  may be made to the West Branch Rescue and Fire Department or Downey Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be left at hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.

Jerry was born February 6, 1944 in Moberly, Missouri the son of George and Gladys Ward Lawrence. He attended Keota Schools and served in the US Air Force from 1962 - 1966. On June 26, 1966 he was united in marriage to Linda Setzer in Iowa City.

He was a member of the West Branch American Legion, Downey Baptist Church and enjoyed  racing.  Starting in the late 1960's he worked on engines for many racers in the area.   He built competition engines for oval track racers, drag strip cars, and pulling trucks and tractors.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Downey. Two daugthers: Patricia (Robert) Brown of West Branch and Jessica (David) Fishbaugher of Mt. Pleasant, two grandchildren: Shaylin and Larkin, brother: Tom (Sandra) Lawrence and a sister: Julie (Joe Schrock) Lawrence of Riverside. Also surviving are three neices: Melia, Andi and Kate. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack.
