Harold A. Stagg, 85, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the First Church United in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established. Harold Allen Stagg was born August16, 1932 in West Liberty the son of Louis H. and Nellie (Parsons) Stagg. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1951. On November 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Edith Yotter in West Liberty. Harold had been employed with REC and later CIPCO in the power plant at Muscatine, retiring in 1994. He was a very hard worker and took deep pride in his work.
He attended the First Church United in West Liberty, was a member of the Moose Lodge in Iowa City and West Liberty County Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, biking and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Cubs and White Sox. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors and had a very impressive collection. Harold always lent a helping hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include two sons: Jeff (Barbara) Stagg of West Des Moines, Iowa and Tim (Terry) Stagg of Sevierville, Tennessee, seven grandchildren: Jessica, Lisa, Derek, David, Dustin, Cheryl and Joseph, and 8 great grandchildren. Five siblings: Harley (Barb) Stagg of Iowa City, Marj (Fil) Melick of West Liberty, Martie (Ray) Morrison of Peoria, Arizona, Richard (Marilyn) Stagg of Oro Valley, Arizona and Jim (Donna) Stagg of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edith, two brothers: Everett and Clarence and a sister Betty.
