There are not many people who had the life that Mary did as Postmistress and Mayor of Nichols as well as all the ups and downs of her life with her husband Burt and lived to tell the tale for so long a period of time. Mary was a genuinely nice person who would do as much for you as she possibly could if at all possible. She will be missed by her family and all her friends. I have know Mary for over 30 years, and I liked her. My mom, Goldie Hayes, and I send our sympathies to Mary's family and especially to her son Andy. You mom, was such a good person. We were privileged to have known her.

The Family of Mary Carter, Words cannot begin to express my sympathy to your family, no one can replace the memories, stories and laughs that she brought to so many. I certainly remember, the smiles, trick or treating as a little girl always wanting to go see Mary, and the support she gave my Mother and I when my Father had passed away. To Andy, Derek, Rex and Shae you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as the time continues, and take great peace in knowing she is in heaven with God and her loved ones that passed before.
With my love,
Ellie Jo

I was very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing she was a wonderful woman who always had a smile and a story to tell. The last time I saw Mary she bought popcorn from my son and was showing my kids her doll collection and telling me all about her adventures around the world. She was a great woman and will be missed by many. I hope GOD helps to heal your pain and remind you of all the good times with your mother. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
