Francis I. Henderson, 65, died Thursday March 14, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Sunday March 17, 2013 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the North Prairie Cemetery, West Liberty.
Francis was born September 19, 1947 in Atlantic, Iowa the daughter of Benjamin C. Pigsley Sr. and Mabel Swolley Pigsley. She attended West Liberty High School. On November 26, 1966 she was united in marriage to William Henderson in Iowa City.
She had been a homemaker most of her life, working for several years at Hawker Nursing Home, Simpson Memorial Home and Hobb’s Feather Company. She was very active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, receiving numerous awards. Two significant awards were District Award of Merit for the Hoover District and the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest award to leaders in Boy Scouts. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, music, genealogy and served as the family historian for many years.
She is survived by her husband William of West Liberty. Three Children: B.J. (Jennifer) Henderson of Tipton, Deborah Quick of Eldon, Missouri and Angela Henderson of Wilton. 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 expected great grandchild. Two brothers: Benjamin Pigsley Jr. of Cape Code, Maryland and Harry Pigsley of Oconomowoc, WI. and a sister Lyla Halstead of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Prince Pigsley and Sister Tereesa Atkins.
