West Branch, Iowa Anders V. Mather, 92, died Saturday March 21, 2009 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday March 24, 2009 at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 10 until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Anders was born December 20, 1916 in Iowa City the son of Anders and Alleda Zwickey Mather. He was a graduate of Springdale High School in 1934 and attended Iowa State University. He farmed in the Springdale area all his life. He was a member of the West Branch United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Farm Bureau and an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Survivors include one son: Ken (Jan) Mather of West Liberty. Three grandsons: Randy (Tammy) Mather of West Liberty, Alan (Xann) Mather of West Liberty and Mike (Sherma) Mather of Richmond, Virginia. 5 Great grandchildren: Amanda, Josh, Kelzi, Keaton and Kiersen. Sister-in-law, Julie Mather, Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Phillip, brother Eugene “Cotton” Mather and a sister Helen Eye.
