Kenneth E. Hunter, 83, went home to be with the Lord Sunday September 2, 2012 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Kenneth was born March 18, 1929 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Earl F. and Vivian Griffith Hunter. He was a graduate of West Branch High School in the Class of 1947 and attended Iowa State College. On October 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to the former Laurale Fulwider in West Branch.
Kenny had farmed for 7 years, worked for Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City for 36 years, and cleaned the West Branch State Bank for 19 years. Kenneth and Laurale attended Faith Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, archery, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, singing in the church choir, playing trombone and harmonica and was a Cub Scout master for 2 years. He was known for his quick wit and great humor. For 12 years they spent the summer in Minnesota.
Survivors include his wife Laurale of West Branch. Four Children: Melanie (Gary) Christopher of West Branch, Denise Johnson of West Branch, Steve (Robyn) Hunter of West Branch and Jim Hunter of Iowa City. One brother: Robert (Verlee) Hunter of Green Valley, Arizona. 8 grandchildren: Angie (Josh) Konetzni, Erica Thomas, Lisa (John) Bestenlehner, Kristen (Peter) Gregory, Karen (Jonathan) Daughtrey, Amy (Justin) Hunter, Nick Hunter and Mikayla Hunter. 7 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter Vivian Gregory.
