West Liberty, Iowa Lois M. Carter, 86, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will take place 3:00-5:00PM with services beginning at 3:30PM on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the West Liberty Community Center. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Lois was born September 4, 1925 in West Liberty, the daughter of Earl and Adeline Ohl Eves. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1943 and later attended business school in Rock Island, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Vernon Carter on April 21, 1946. Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nichols and then later in West Liberty. She was a 4-H leader and would also help work the polls on Election Day. Lois enjoyed reading, golf and was an avid bridge player. She is survived by her three children, Cheryl Carter of Biscayne Park, Florida, Jeff (Marty) Carter of Iowa City and Lynne Carter of Nashville, Tennessee, and her two grandchildren, Shawn Carter of Nashville, Tennessee and Chase Carter of Coralville. Lois is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon and brother William Eves.
