West Liberty, Iowa Doris O. McCann, 86, died Monday August 13, 2012 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday August 16, 2012 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with Rev. DeLane Wright officiating. Visitaiton will be held 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Doris was born October 3, 1925 on the Cedar Valley family farm south of West Liberty the daughter of Ruben and Zella Stephens Askam. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1943. On December 14, 1968 she was united in marriage to Charles Mearl McCann in West Liberty. Doris was a country school teacher for several years at High Prairie Country School and later worked for over 50 years at the West Liberty Telephone Company where she was a switchboard operator and secretary. She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and for many years served as a volunteer at the Simpson Memorial Home. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, BINGO, and slot machines. She also loved traveling, reading and her cats. She is survived by one brother: Leon of Tucson, Arizona. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers: Edwin, Donald, Robert and Virgil and one sister Rita Herrold.
