Mari L. Mathews, 56, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her home in West Branch.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 19, 2012, outdoors near the Visitor’s Center at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch. A memorial fund has been established.
Mari was born October 30, 1955 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Robert E. and Lucile Claassen Mathews. She attended William Jennings Bryan High School in Omaha. She was employed with the National Park Service for 32 years, the last 11 years working as an administrative officer at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch.
She is survived by her daughter Celeste, two sisters, one brother, and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband.
