Nancy Lee Johnson, 66, died suddenly at her home on Monday, February 2, 2009.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch with visitation from 10:00 until 11:30AM. A luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge. Memorials can be made to the West Branch First Responders.
Nancy was born April 19, 1942 in Tipton, Iowa the daughter of William and Marguerite Taylor Ohrt. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to Terry Johnson on September 1, 1962 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in West Branch. Nancy worked at several locations in West Branch as a waitress. She also worked in private childcare. She was a member of Moose Lodge 1096 in Iowa City.
Nancy enjoyed shooting darts, playing cards and bingo, camping and gambling. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, always having something freshly baked on the kitchen counter. She enjoyed the wildlife from her rural home, including the flowers, animals and birds. Most important to Nancy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Terry Johnson of Iowa City, 3 children: Tammy “T.J.” (Rick) Bouzek of Colorado Springs, CO; David (Deb) Johnson of Solon; and Michelle “Mitch” (Jeff) Wolfram of Iowa City, Iowa; a brother: Robert (Judy) Ohrt of Tipton; 2 sisters: Carol (Ron) Hills of Tipton and Sandy (Larry) Bell of West Branch; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Pat and Linda Casey of Bartlett, TN. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Micheala, Ashley, Kyle, Jordie, Corinda and Nicholas, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson: Colton.
