Patty and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was saddened by the news of your mom's passing, Patty. She was very kind to me during my years at the U of Iowa when I lived in West Branch. She was a gracious woman with a warm and generous spirit.

Patty and family. My sincere condolences on your loss. Shirley worked with my mom, Betty Gallagher, at the Hoover Library. I remember her warm and kind spirit. I also had the honor of working for Harold for three years, as well. Your folks were two fine, caring people. My thoughts are with you.

We are so saddened by the loss of your mother, Shirley Sondergard. Shirley was a very special lady who we were happy to have as our daughter's piano teacher for the past 9 years. A lesson with Shirley wasn't just a piano lesson; it was also an opportunity to share the current events of the student's life with a very interested mentor. We have admired Shirley's independent spirit and caring attitude, and she will be deeply missed.

I will miss Shirley's happy disposition! So glad I was able to save her a few steps whenever I'd see her by the post office. What a lovely lady and beautiful legacy she left with having shared the gift of music with so many! Heartfelt sympathy to her family and many friends. She will be dearly missed.

What a wonderful person Miss Shirley was! We will miss her so much. I always got a kick out of her. My husband, Mike, often would escort her in to the local establishment so she could sit and enjoy a glass of wine. She always seemed to love to sit back and observe all of us. She always teased me that she would "have him back in about 2 hours" when he would take her out to her car. And, of course, she taught piano to our daughter, Danielle. Miss Shirley - you will be missed!

To the family of Shirley, I extend my sympathy for your loss of Shirley. She was a classmate of my husband, Maynard Sexton and when Maynard and I moved to West Branch a few years ago I enjoyed coffee with her and the group of friends that met every day. She was an interesting lady. May time help you all heal.
