Avis D. Hoerrmann, 87, died Sunday December 28, 2008 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday January 2, 2009 at the West Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Betsy Neipert officating. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or Amenity Hospice. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Avis was born February 21, 1921 in Green City, Missouri the daughter of William and Ada Marie Payne Callihan. She was a graduate of Green City High School in 1938. On August 14, 1941 she was united in marriage to Wayne Hoerrmann in Kirksville, Missouri. The couple had lived in several communities before moving to the Atalissa area in 1958. In 1980, Avis and Wayne moved from their family farm to their home in West Liberty.
Avis had been employed with Owen Brush Company for several years and later at ACT in Iowa City.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing and dancing.
Survivors include her husband Wayne of West Liberty. One daughter: Gloria (Terry) Ulch of Belle Plaine, Iowa, One son: Terry (Diana) Hoerrmann of Lone Tree. 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Thelma and brother Noel.
