Alice Cleo Phillips, 78, died Saturday March 19, 2011 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday March 22, 2011 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.
Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or American Heart Association.
Alice was born April 4, 1932 in Eminence, Missouri the daughter of Jonithan and Myrtle Kuntz Pogue. On May 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to James Ephriam Phillips in Eminence.
She had been employed with Owens Brush / Oral B for 39 years as well as Crestview Care Center, Simpson Memorial Home and Cookson Home. She enjoyed camping, quilting, her flowers and grandchildren. Alice was proud of obtaining her GED on May 21, 1986.
Survivors include five sons: Ken (Diane) Phillips of Springdale, Wayne (Connie) Phillips of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Roger Phillips of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Ronald (Sandy) Phillips of Wapello and Mike Phillips of West Liberty; one daughter: Debra (James) Lovetinsky of West Liberty. Three sisters: Leo (John) Setzer of O’Fallon, Missouri, Helen Hasty of New Haven, Missouri, Sallie Martin of St. Louis, Missouri; Sister-in-law: Ida Pogue of Ellington, Missouri. Brother: Tyman (Joan) Pogue of Ballwin, Missouri. 20 Grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband James in 1969, Daughter: Patricia; Brothers: Roscoe and John Pogue.
