My sincere condolences to the family of Shannon Hiersemen.
Thank you for your courage in telling of her valiant battle with depression.
My son took his own life, leaving twin girls who were 2 years old.
Even as we continue to feel the pain of John's loss, we are comforted by his girls who have chosen teaching as their profession. They are very involved in NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to find out as much as they can about the illness that killed him.
God Bless you all.

Our family sends out all of our hearts to you. I carry fond memories of following Dan Sexton around at Tipton Hills asking about Shannon. She has the record books for my very first "Crush" I also remember spending the night camping out by a pond or lake and Sylvia cooked breakfast for us all. As time has passed (almost 28 years ago) I still cherish the memories that she and your family have allowed me to carry on.
The only thing that I could possibly add is memories really do keep the ones close to you alive. I will do my share as friends and family do in carrying the memory.

fairytale(horses included). God Bless you for being the incredible husband and father that you are!
Charlotte- You are aware of how I admired your daughter from a very very young age. I just want you to know, that will never ever change.
Boys- You don't know me, but I want you to remember when you are reading this years down the road that your mom was all that and a bag of apples;) Beautiful, kind, sincere, intellgent, and athletic. Find a positive word to be spoken and your mom was it.

She was one of those rare people on earth that I would be shocked to know had an enemy.

Be at peace my sweet friend. You have given me and others many fond memories. I will never forget your smile. I'm honored to have been a classmate/friend of yours. You are very missed. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to John, the boys, and your families. Love you Shannon.
