West Liberty, Iowa Warren H. Forbes, 84, died Monday March 3, 2008 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Friday March 7, 2008 at the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church, rural West Liberty. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established. Warren Forbes born August 4, 1923 West of Conesville, Iowa to Ida (Heath) and Vernie Forbes as their seventh child. He attended Big Springs country school near Conesville through the eighth grade. He farmed with his dad until he married Viola Krotz on November 25, 1942 in Iowa City. He was a hired hand and they rented farms in the Conesville area until 1961 when they moved to West Liberty, Iowa. They continued farming in the West Liberty area until 1976 when Warren retired from farming and began a job at the West Liberty schools as a high school janitor. He worked at the school for ten years and retired in 1987. He made his home at independent living facilities in West Liberty until becoming a resident at the Simpson Memorial Home in September 2006. He was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his many years farming, especially livestock. He is survived Two sons: Larry of Cedar Rapids, Duane (Jean) of West Liberty, and one daughter: Reta Callahan (Don) of Dysart, Iowa. Older brother Lyle Forbes of Lone Tree. Also surviving are 8 Grandchildren: Lynnette Ragatz, Melissa Forbes, Sarah Sucansky, Amy Putney, Paul Forbes, Shawn Forbes, Shawn Callahan, Katie Slade and Aaron Schaver as well as 7 great grandchildren: Brady, Miranda, Ainsley, Ava, Jacob, Madyson, Franklin, Ian and Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Viola, and brothers Daris, Wayne, Lester, and James; sisters, Beulah, Florence, and Helen.
