West Liberty, Iowa Florence W. Oberman, 95, of West Liberty died Thursday April 10, 2008 at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. A celebration of Florence's life will be held 11 A.M. Saturday April 26, 2008 at the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Betsey Neipert officiating. Family burial was held in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty on April11, 2008. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Florence was born February 14, 1913 in southern Alberta, Canada the daughter of Will and Emma McCollister Warren. She was a graduate of University High School in Iowa City and the University of Iowa. She had taught school for several years in Hannibal, Missouri and Decorah, Iowa. On June 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Paul Oberman on the family farm south of Iowa City. They farmed in Johnson County until 1945 until they purchased their farm in the Cedar Valley community south of West Liberty. Florence and Paul farmed for many years until Duane and Jean Forbes assumed the farming operation in 1977. In 1990 Florence and Paul moved into West Liberty to make their home. She was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church for 63 years, where was active in the U.M.W., and serving in many leadership capacities locally and at the district level. She was also a member of the West Liberty Country Club, Fortnightly, was a 4H leader and active in the Farm Bureau Women. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Walton and her husband John of Steel Field Fish Camp, Florida; three grandsons, Nathan Futrell and wife Melissa of Roanoke, Virginia, Darby Futrell and wife Heather of Benton, Kentucky and Jon Futrell and wife Kari of Murray, Kentucky. Twin great grandsons, Corey and Cody Futrell of Roanoke and One sister, Martha Eulberg of Denver, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Donald, sister Louise Morrison and a brother Martin Warren.
