David Vincent Lynch, 59, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his residence in West Branch.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday June 9, 2008 at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in West Branch. A previously scheduled benefit for David will be held as a tribute, at Champagne's Restaurant in West Branch from 2:00-5:00PM on Sunday June 8. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM with a wake service at 7:30PM on Sunday June 8 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Valley. A memorial has been established in Dave's name.
David was born July 3, 1948 in Iowa City the son of Maurice and Evelyn Moreland Lynch. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1966 and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Bauman on May 7, 2006 in West Branch, Iowa. He worked at a painting contractor in Iowa City for over 25 years. David was a musician and played in various bands for many years, most recently with his wife, performing as "Dave and Marilyn". He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and the Eagles in Iowa City.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Lynch of West Branch, a son Jack Ira Lynch of Sedalia, Missouri and a stepson: Matthew Bauman of Redlands, California a sister: Maureen (Richard) Peck of Tipton and an aunt: Dorothy Lynch Cahill. David is also survived by 1 granddaughter: Valkyrie, 2 step grandsons: Robert and William, and 5 nieces and nephews: Tara Smith, Denise Peck, Nathan Peck, Moria Nebergall, and Bradly Peck. He was preceded in death his parents, two sisters: Mary and Linda Lou and 11 aunts and uncles.
