Tipton, Iowa J. Dennis Samuelson passed away October 31, 2013 at his home with his immediate family by his side. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Monday November 4, 2013 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. Dennis was born January 19, 1945 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Victor and Bonnie Harper Samuelson. Dennis and Linda Bartarcek were married June 21, 1964 in Iowa City. Dennis loved driving big trucks. It was no surprise that his chosen career was driving a semi truck. He traveled both local and interstate routes for various companies until his health would no longer allow him to drive. Dennis and Linda have one son, Dr. Shawn (Tonya) Samuelson and grandchildren, Andrew and Layla Samuelson. Dennis had a love for horses and passed that interest to his son and grandchildren. He attended rodeos and horse shows to watch them perform in the different riding and roping events. His grandchildren Andrew and Layla were his pride and joy. They shared many adventures together which included exploring the woods behind the house, playing games and going to get ice cream after school. Dennis is survived by his wife Linda of Tipton. Son Dr. Shawn (Tonya) Samuelson; grandchildren: Andrew and Layla Samuelson all of West Branch. Three brothers: L. Keith (Shirley) Samuelson of Durant; Arthur (Mary) Samuelson of Tipton and Leo (Mary) Samuelson of Moscow. Two sisters: Betty (Edwin) Lett of Tipton and Vera (Richard) Smith of West Liberty as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Bonnie Darlene Meck and husband Lee and Emmajean Simons and husbands Lewis; Emmett Bowers, one brother Victor Lee Samuelson and wife Karen, one nephew Steven Samuelson.
