I am sorry to learn of Betty's passing. I knew her at Hope United Methodist Church in Iowa City. She was a great leader there, as well as a good friend. Condolences to family and friends.

I write this with a heavy heart as I learned of Betty's passing. I have know Betty my entire life as she was not only a friend to my parents, Gene and Marilyn Mathias, but part of the family. There wasn't a holiday or event in our lives that she wasn't a part of and I have nothing but beautiful memories of her kindness and generosity. When I was young you could bet that she would show up with the most amazing Gingerbread House at Christmas!!! She LOVED my moms apple pie and she always seemed to drop by when one was still warm. My mom would tease, " you must have smelled it!" Oh, what fond memories!! Betty will be greatly missed by my entire family and please know that we are extremely saddened by her loss. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Betty was such a wonderful friend to my entire family. As a child I recall her kindness and loyalty to my grandparents (Marilyn and Gene Mathias) as she visited often. Always taking the time to talk with me and see what was new in my life. Years later after receiving the Ketchum Family Scholarship I enjoyed regularly updating Betty on my studies and catching up in life throughout college. My heart is heavy for your family and know that we are all mourning with you.

I worked with Betty in the late 70s and early 80s. She was one of the kindest, most caring persons you would ever want to meet.

Sorry to hear of Betty's passing. We became good friends through a good friend of hers. I enjoyed the visits when I was doing her handy work, and shoveling of her snow. Betty will be missed by many. You are all in my prayers. God Bless
