West Liberty, Iowa Nell Maurer, 90, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. Nell was born September 1, 1923, in Wilton, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Nola Reynolds Rorick. She graduated from Wilton High School and attended AIC Business College. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Widner who died in World War II. She later married Wayne Maurer on July 1, 1945 in Davenport. They owned and operated a greenhouse in West Liberty for a period of time. She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Nell is survived by her sons Craig (Donna) Maurer of West Liberty and Rick (Sue) Maurer of West Liberty; daughter Gloria (Mike) Martensen of Lisbon; grandchildren Nicki (Ed) Green, Timothy (JoAnn) Maurer, Jenifer (Zach) Weaver, Christopher (Tara) Maurer, Ericka (Thad) Hoover, Simon Maurer and friend Krista, Travis (Breona) Maurer, Courtney Maurer, Janel (Zach) Tyler, Michele (Julio) Galvan and Marla (Aaron) Griffith. She is also survived by 31 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, sons Wayne and Charles, brothers Lester, Kenneth, Everett and sister Nola.
