W. Russell VanDusen, 68, died Saturday August 31, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday September 4, 2013 at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 North Calhoun Street, West Liberty. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial with Military Honors will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Russell VanDusen memorial fund.
Walter Russell VanDusen was born April 8, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Floyd and Mary Molitor VanDusen. He served in the United States Marines from 1962 until 1965. On August 18, 1979 he was united in marriage to Barbara Goodale in Atalissa. Russell had been employed with Mid American Pipeline for 26 years and the City of West Liberty for the last 8 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of West Liberty. 4 Children: Wendy (Craig) Askam of Muscatine, Julie (Amy) VanDusen of Bettendorf, Joseph (Terra) VanDusen of West Liberty, and Robert (Sarah) VanDusen of Wilton. 10 grandchildren: Maggy, Kate, Jacob, Megan, J.J., Taylor, Tracie, Wyatt, Andrew and Juliana. 3 brothers: Jim VanDusen of Grandview, Iowa, Joe (Sheila) VanDusen of Atalissa and Donovan VanDusen of Atalissa. 3 sisters: Judy Whittaker of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Joann (Rick) Meade of West Liberty and Joan (Jaime) McMichael of Atalissa. He is also survived by a sister in law Sandra VanDusen of Atalissa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Lloyd.
