Atalissa, Iowa Donald F. Passmore, 82, died Monday January 18, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church. Donald was born August 23, 1927 in Nichols, Iowa the son of Fred and Theresa Gatzke Passmore. He was a graduate of Atalissa High School in 1945. He had served in the United States Air Force from 1947 until 1949. On March 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Arlene Rochau in Atalissa. Don had farmed for many years in the Atalissa area and also worked for Sears and Slager Appliance as a service technician. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa. He was also was a member of Izaac Walton League where he served as president of both the state and local chapter. He was a 30 year member of the Atalissa Fire Department and served as Mayor for many years. Survivors include his wife Arlene of Atalissa. Four daughters: Jacqueline (Lonnie) Powers of Iowa City, Mary Passmore of Coralville, Pamela Passmore of Iowa City and Karen (Larry) Lenz of Nichols. 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Chelsea) Powers, Jason Powers, Adam Powers, Dustin (Jenna) Lenz and Travis Lenz. Sister: Marie Kline of Kansas City, Missouri and Brother: Dwight (Judy) Passmore of Atalissa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
