I just read of your mother's death in the West Branch Time which the Kofoeds have mailed to me. I remember your Mother so fondly, and the wonderful food at the restaurant! I trust the memories you have and the support of your many friends will bring you comfort. May she rest in God's peace. Martha Thompson Resotko

For Anita Quinlan's family:
I saw your mother's obituary in the Press-Citizen, which I look at sometimes to check on old friends and relatives. My folks, Lysle and Vivian Sanger, both long gone, were friends of your folks all the way back to 1946 when Don was just out of the Navy after the war and newly-married to Anita and working for Mr. Baldwin at the little grocery store on U.S. Highway 6 in Tiffin. We lived across the highway on a farm but shopped at Baldwin's and got our mail there. I was 10 years old then, but remember both your folks very well. Both of them seemed like awfully nice people, and my folks stayed friends with them for decades. One of the girls lived next door to my folks on Douglass in Iowa City and I got to know her and her husband at that time, and I remember they were a big help when my folks were failing. Dad had Alzheimer's and died in August 1992 at the Iowa City Care Center and mother died at home in September 1990 when I was staying with her.
My condolences to all of you. Your parents were terrific people.

My sympathies to all of the Quinlan siblings, but I particularly want to extend them to Jo and Johnita. I haven't had contact with Jo since we worked for good ol' Ma Bell 100 yrs. ago, but they were good times. Johnita, may your memories of your mother bring you comfort at this time. It is particularly hard to lose someone during this time of year, your family will be in my prayers.
