West Liberty, Iowa Mary Ort, 85, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, August 9, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty with visitation beginning one hour before. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00PM on Thursday, August 8, 2013 with a wake service at 7:00PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in West Liberty. Mary was born November 17, 1927, in Graham Township, Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of James and Anna Jedlick Dvorsky. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1946. She was employed as a lab tech with Proctor & Gamble in Iowa City for 25 years. She also worked as a nurse’s aide on and off for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty, and a former member of St. Mary’s and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. She was a lector and Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister in the church as well as a relief bible study leader at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Mary also enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the Old Capital Quilters Guild of Iowa City and the Local Quilters Club of West Liberty. She is survived by her sons: Anthony Seydel of Golden, CO, Patrick (Susan) Seydel of Glenwood Springs, CO, Terry Seydel of Davenport, IA, James “Jay” Seydel of Muscatine, IA, and Ted (Lori) Seydel of West Liberty, IA; daughters: Elizabeth (Karl) Nebergall of Atalissa, IA, Nikki (Joe) Truitt of Morning Sun, IA, and Martha (Jeff) Terhune of West Liberty, IA; 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 nephew and 3 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John H. Ort who she married in 1974, brother Gabriel Dvorsky, sister Amelia Gunderson, son Michael Seydel and granddaughter Gretchen Seydel.
