Opal I. Kile, 89, died Friday November 6, 2009, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at the United Methodist Church in West Liberty with Rev. DeLane Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials may be made to the West Liberty Rescue Unit or Iowa City Hospice.
Opal Irene Kile, the youngest of seven children, was born on the family Forbes farm south of Lone Tree, Iowa on February 25, 1920. Her parents were Charles and Alice Mae Whitham Forbes.
Opal was married to John M. Kile at the Reformed Church in Lone Tree, Iowa on December 16, 1939. They spent 62 happy years together. John and Opal farmed north of Lone Tree for 4 years then moved to the Kile family farm, seven miles west of West Liberty in the South Prairie Community where they resided, farmed and raised Purebred Angus Cattle for 23 years until 1966 when John retired from farming and they moved into the town of West Liberty.
Opal’s life was centered around being a good supportive wife and mother who loved her family, home, & yard. She and John were always together and spent many retired years fishing, and playing golf at the golf course in West Liberty.
She is survived by: two daughters: Donna (Bob) Thede of Wilton, Iowa and Carol (John) Russell of McHenry, IL. Five grandchildren: Mark, Angie, Brenda, Michelle & Tim and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband John M. Kile
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Forbes and six brothers and sisters.
