Gene D. Mitchell Gene Donald Mitchell was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 28, 1913, the son of Eugene and Mable Duple Mitchell. He passed away peacefully on June 5, 2013 at the age of 100 years and 3 months at his home at Sunrise Senior Living of Naperville, IL. In 1938 Gene married Ione Johnson. She preceded him in death. He was in the transportation business in West Liberty, IA beginning in 1948 until his retirement in 1976. Upon retiring, he moved to Mesa, AZ and continued to keep himself busy as a handyman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents and his sister and brother-in-law.
