Obituary of Bob Petersen

Bob Petersen, age 82 of West Liberty passed away Sunday, December 22^nd, 2024 at Windmill Manor in Coralville. 

No Services are planned.

Robert Eugene Petersen was born December 12^th, 1942 in Iowa City to Ernie and Betty Petersen.  Bob graduated from West Liberty High School and spent his early years in the AG business locally.  He served 2 years in the United States Army.  Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob was united in marriage with Sandra Kay (Boller) Dickey on January 21^st 1967 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty, IA.  They spent most of their life in Atalissa, IA.  Later in life Bob served and retired as a security guard for the Herbert Hoover Museum in West Branch.

Bob enjoyed serving the Atalissa Volunteer Fire Department for decades, many years as Chief.

Bob is survived by his wife: Sandra of Atalissa, one daughter, Shanna Kellor of West Liberty and one son Scott Petersen of Nichols along with three grandchildren, Aleasha Smock of West Liberty, Jayton Hinkhouse of Glenwood, IA and Makayla Kellor of Nichols.  Bob has five great grandchildren, Taylor McKillip, Hayden, Parker and Mason Smock of West Liberty and Ivy Juergens of Nichols.  He has one brother, Jim (Faye) Petersen of West Liberty.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin sister Barb Stratton.
