Obituary of Scott James Petersen

Scott James Petersen 39 of West Branch, Iowa passed away August 10,  2024.

Scott was born September 17th 1984 in Iowa City the son of James E. & Judy D. (Crawford) Petersen.  

He was a graduate of West Branch High School in 2003. 

Scott grew up on the land his grandparents bought in 1964 and worked closely with his dad doing what they loved most, farming. 

He loved collecting farm toys, fishing, taking walks in the timber, watching the sunsets and snowmobiling. 

Some of Scott's favorite days were spent out on the land with family, friends, a combine, tillage, a planter, a ranger or just the cows.  Scott treasured the mundane aspects of farming too; staying up at all hours of the night checking on the dryer or tending to the livestock.  

His unique laughter and goofy grin followed him everywhere he went and he will be missed. 

He is survived by his Parents:  Jim & Judy Petersen (West Branch)  Grandmother: Clara Petersen (West Branch) Siblings: Gary McGaa (Omaha) Gara Petersen (Iowa City) Karie Kerr (North Liberty)  and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

A celebration of life to be held in September is pending. 

In lieu of flowers please give to Shriner’s, West Branch Fire Department, or Cedar County Cattleman and enjoy a well planted field as you drive in the country.
