Obituary of Stanley D. Hinkhouse
Stanley D. Hinkhouse, 69, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Stanley was born on March 27, 1955, in Iowa City, the son of Herbert and Doris (Guthrie) Hinkhouse. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1973 and attended Kirkwood Community College and Iowa State University. Stanley spent his life farming, working on the family farm.
He was an active member of the Friends Church, where he sang in the choir and participated in the bell choir. Stanley was also a member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed singing in the West Branch Community Choir, traveling and spending time in the mountains, as well as engaging in activities such as skiing, golfing, and kayaking. Additionally, he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Stanley is survived by his four siblings: Richard (Anji) Hinkhouse of West Branch, Clifford (Monica) Hinkhouse of West Branch, Glenn (Pam) Hinkhouse of West Branch, and Hilda (Bill) Bowers of West Liberty. He is also survived by his eight nieces and nephews: Robert Hinkhouse, Michelle Hinkhouse, Jonathan Hinkhouse, Amy Neufeld, Christopher Hinkhouse, Kelly Potthoff, Ryan Bowers, and Dustin Bowers. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Doris Hinkhouse.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Friends Church in West Branch, with funeral services to be held immediately following at 2 P.M. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery, Springdale, Iowa. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is caring for Stanley and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Simpson Memorial Home or St. Croix Hospice.
