Obituary of Donna Lee Mullink

Donna Lee Mullink, 64, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the West Liberty Community Center with visitation Sunday 11:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to services. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Donna and her family.

Donna was born October 23, 1959 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of William and Rose (Krueger) Newton. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the class of 1978. On February 4, 1984 she was united in marriage to Michael Mullink in Nichols. Mike and Donna added two sons to their family, Michael Scott and Benjamin Patrick. To Donna, family was her all.  

Donna was an avid golfer and longtime member of the West Liberty Country Club and briefly held the course record; unfortunately for only 1 day. She had a passion for photography and enjoyed outdoor activities such canoeing, camping, and fishing. Donna also loved playing cards and board games, as well as watching "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" and the movie "A Christmas Story" annually. She loved to organize the Annual Newton Family gatherings, almost to a point of driving them all crazy!! She had been employed with Grain Processing Corporation in Muscatine and later the University of Iowa.

She is survived by her husband Michael of West Liberty, one son: Michael “Mick” Scott Mullink and his significant other Liz Homuth of Denver. Parents: William and Rose Newton of West Liberty. Three siblings: Debbie and Charles Rockwell of Panora, Diann Newton of Iowa City, Tony and Maria Newton of West Liberty and a brother in law Tony Mullink of Iowa City. Nieces and Nephews: Christy (Jeremy) Kinze, Kelsey, and Miranda Laabs; Justin "JT" (Brandi) Triston, Ava, Charlotte, and Emmett Rockwell; Amy (Wes) Nile and Ryan Dorsam; Jennifer (Duane) Kaylee and Addie Grimes; Jessica (Trevor) Denly, Lucy and Hadley Schneider; Austin Newton and Lake Newton. And many family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by a son Benjamin in 2006, in-laws John & Fontelle Mullink, and Grandparents.
