Obituary of Roberta "Robbie" Jean McMichael

Roberta “Robbie” McMichael, 69, passed away suddenly Friday November 17, 2023 at her home.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. A celebration of life will be held 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Atalissa Fire Station, Atalissa, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Roberta McMichael Memorial Fund.

Roberta Jean Mills was born March11,1954 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Glenna (Schmidt) Mills. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1972. On December 8,1984 she was united in marriage to Jay McMichael in Des Moines.

In her early years Robbie had worked with her mother at the Crystal Café in West Liberty, she later had worked at Sheller-Globe Iowa City, food service at the University of Iowa Hospital and for several nursing homes in the area.

Robbie enjoyed her animals; horse Chelsea Mae, birds and will be missed by her dogs Buck and Hemi. She and Jay would get on the golf cart daily and take the dogs to the creek to play

Survivors include her husband Jay of Atalissa, two sons: Corie (Ronda) Peterson of West Liberty and Nathan (Sonya) McMichael of Atalissa. 3 grandchildren: Kimberlee McMichael, Hayley Peterson and Morgan Peterson. Sisters: Phyllis (David) Peterson of Lone Tree and Edie (Bill) Wachs of West Liberty, two brothers: Dave Mills of West Liberty and Barry (Cindy) Mills of West Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in law Becky Mills.
