Obituario Maria Del Refugio Solis

Maria Del Refugio Solis, de 78 años, falleció el viernes 3 de noviembre de 2023 en los hospitales y clínicas de la Universidad de Iowa.

La visitación será el martes de 4 a 7 p.m. en la Iglesia Católica de San Jose en West Liberty. La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo a las 10 a.m. Miércoles 8 de noviembre de 2023 en la Iglesia. El entierro será en el cementerio de Oak Ridge, West Liberty.

María nació el 17 de junio de 1945 en Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, México, hija de Elias Moreno y Antonia Chávez de Moreno. Se licenció en cosmetología, corte y confección en Ciudad Juárez, México. El 4 de junio de 1967 se unió en matrimonio con Eugenio Solis. María trabajó como profesora de corte y confección en la Academia CTM en Ciudad Juárez, México, y fue ama de casa. Ella era miembro de la Iglesia Católica de San Jose y el grupo de oración de esta misma.

María era un ser humano maravilloso, cariñoso y con mucho amor por todos. Ella fue una madre para muchos, no solo de sus propios hijos. Abrió las puertas de su casa y su corazón a cualquiera que lo necesitara.

María tenía una actitud positiva y era una mujer fuerte, una luchadora que superó el cáncer con su gran fé en Dios y su maravilloso y gracioso sentido del humor que nunca será olvidado.

Le gustaba la jardinería; cultivar chiles y tomates, cuidar sus plantas y flores en el interior y exterior, cocinar y crear nuevas recetas y ver  telenovelas de las viejas.

Le sobreviven su marido Eugenio, dos hijos: Jesús Eugenio (Pilar) Solis y Jessica (Javier) Ramírez, todos de West Liberty. Nietos: Yesika (Fernando) Pacheco de Tiffin, Iowa, Angela Solis de West Branch, Veronica Solis de Lowden, Miguel Solis de Iowa City, Christian Solis de Lone Tree, Arlette Elvir y Roberto Ramírez, ambos de West Liberty. Dos hermanos: Juan y Gerardo Moreno de Ciudad Juárez, México. Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, su hermano Álvaro Moreno y sus dos hermanas: María Rodríguez y Teresa Meléndez.

Maria Del Refugio Solis, 78, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4 to 7 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Funeral mass will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday November 8, 2023 at the Church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.

Maria was born June 17, 1945 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico the daughter of Elias Moreno and Antonia Chavez de Moreno. She received her degree in cosmetology, cut and confection in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. On June 4, 1967 she was united in marriage to Eugenio Solis. Maria worked as a professor in cut and confection at the CTM Academy in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and was a home maker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the prayer group. 

Maria was a wonderful loving and caring human with a lot of love for everyone. She was a mother to many not just her own children. She opened up the doors to her home and her heart to anyone in need.

Maria had a positive attitude and was a strong woman, a fighter who overcame cancer with her strong faith and wonderful silly sense of humor which will never be forgotten.

She enjoyed gardening; growing peppers and tomatoes, caring for her indoor and outdoor plants and flowers, cooking and coming up with new recipes and watching old telenovelas.

She is survived by her husband Eugenio, two children: Jesus Eugenio (Pilar) Solis and Jessica (Javier) Ramirez all of West Liberty. Grandchildren: Yesika (Fernando) Pacheco of Tiffin, Iowa, Angela Solis of West Branch, Veronica Solis of Lowden, Miguel Solis of Iowa City, Christian Solis of Lone Tree, Arlette Elvir and Roberto Ramirez both of West Liberty. Two brothers: Juan and Gerardo Moreno of Ciudad Juarez Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alvaro Moreno and two sisters: Maria Rodriguez and Teresa Melendez.
